June Goals

I am linking up for my first time at I {heart} Recess. I typically make new year goals, but for the summer, so why not for the summer as well... especially since I have more flexibility with my time.

PERSONAL: I ran this morning after a long hiatus from taking time off. I also signed up for a January half marathon. It helps to put a race on the calendar to keep me motivated.

FAMILY: I am taking a trip soon to St. Louis. I'm taking my mama to see my sister, brother-in-law, and nephew. It should be fun! I also want to visit my aunt after my trip. I haven't seen her since Thanksgiving. Also, I plan to spend more time with my husband. During the school year, I am often busy with work. For the summer, I plan to get things done for TPT, blogging, and school while he is at work.

HEALTH: During the school year, I get stuck in a rut when making meals. I like to experiment and try new recipes. I have tried 2 already this summer! I am a big fan of Trader Joe's cookie butter. I had it mixed in with my oatmeal this morning- yummy. I cheated though... I just used instant oatmeal with a scoop of the cookie butter.  I made this yesterday for lunch, and had it again today. It's delicious! I followed this recipe, but added a touch of hot pepper for spiciness. It's called Creamy Tomato Tortellini Soup. Click picture below to original recipe and photograph credits.

SCHOOL: I took home half of my books to organize. These are the books that I use throughout the year for my lessons. They are only kept out while learning about a specific theme. I kept them in the big ziplock bags in plastic bins. My plastic bins got too heavy and full. Today, I got my Really Good Stuff Neon green and blue bins. I love them! I will need to order more- Neon Pink, Neon Orange, and Yellow are in my shopping cart. I just need to wait a bit, closer to the school year.

BLOG/TPT: I plan to start my first linky on Thursdays! I want to know how other teachers use cooperative learning in their classrooms. I hope you will join me! For TPT, I plan to create a few more units.

READ: I have started reading The CAFE Book. I thought it was time that I should read it, and move forward with Daily 5. I ordered the Closing Circle book, as I love Morning Meetings. I would like to better my afternoon meetings, and I think this will help me. I also want to incorporate the 7 Habits of Happy Kids into my classroom. I think it will go well with positive thinking and filling buckets concepts. There is a math book I also ordered, Building Mathematical Comprehension, so that I could read along with Brenda 's Primary Inspired summer book club. Lots of reading for school... but it is my choice and interest!

  4. Hi Gwen!

It sounds like you have a busy summer planned! You have me wondering about Cookie Butter. I might have to make a trip to Trader Joes just to find out what it is. Good luck with getting back into running. I have a few 5Ks planned this summer, but I've never done a half yet.
